Batman Forever (1995)
Batman Forever and Batman and Robin and such amazing films! I feel like I say amazing too much, but so many things are! Tim Burton directed both of these films and at it's a stark contrast from the recent Batman films Christopher Nolan has directed/directing since there is lots of speculation about a new Batman film! Both directors are fantastic in their own right and they both play on dark themes but in completely different lights. Christopher is very on the surface when he creates his thrillers, such as Inception and Memento while Tim Burton is a mixture and everything isn't quite what you think it is. There is no doubt that Batman Forever is very camp, it's everything I think of when I think of a 90's movie and it's so tongue and cheek and such a perfect film!
In the early stages of creating Vanity Nightmare at the Movies I knew straight away I wanted to create a Riddler makeup look. The nails were great fun to make and drawing the question marks in various positions on my body was such a nightmare. I felt like I was going to mess up every second and I'm pretty impressed that I didn't need to retouch any of them. I tend not to retouch many of my images that much, I'm not trying to convey beauty shots, this is purely art for me.
I completely understand why Heath Ledger committed suicide, he put his heart and soul into his job and theres always a cross over when you start to involve yourself heavily into something. There has been times when I've been completely consumed by something I've been creating, the art that you try and create physically can take over you mentally, and I can only imagine the depths Heath went into his role. A tragic end to such a talented guy.
